Have you had a chance to look at your MAP Growth reports yet? Here is a video that explains what each report means.

The STEM Action Center Software grant is NOW OPEN! If you are looking to incorporate a supplement math software program in your classroom, your school is eligible to receive free licenses from the STEM AC. Click here for more information about which software programs are available.

Work with your department head if you are interested in applying for the free math software licenses.

Strategy of the Month –“The Answer is…”

WISR strategy connection: Inquiry

Are you a fan of the show, Jeopardy? Here is a strategy that mimics the popular game show: provide students with “an answer” and see how many different types of questions they can come up with that fit the answer. By implementing this strategy, you can help support students develop a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts and promote critical thinking. Here’s a link to a graphic organizer you can use with this strategy.

Multilingual Moment

Each month the ISD Multilingual team will be sharing quick and high yielding strategies that teachers can use to support their multilingual learners.

Greetings from the ISD ML team!

Tip #1: Let them show what they know in different ways! Give students multiple ways to show what they know, such as drawing, acting, using gestures, or creating visuals. This builds confidence and deepens understanding.

Tip #2: Create moments for success! Recognize what students already do well and create opportunities to build on those strengths. Set clear goals for their growth and ensure your lessons allow them to experience success.

Tip #3: Observe and reflect on the following:

Brag about your students - What can they do?

What do you want your students to be able to do by the end of their time with you?
How do you want your students to feel when they leave your classroom each day?

Where in the daily lesson/activity are opportunities for this to exist?

Resource Reminder – Do Your Students Need Extra Practice?

If you are assigning a Derivita assignment and want your students to have more practice with a specific type of problem, you can use the “copy” and “paste” functions to create as many additional problems as needed. This function will recreate that type of problem exactly and then change the numbers for you. Let me know if you have any questions about how to duplicate questions.

Additionally, if your students need support with unfinished learning, Derivita also has question banks for middle school topics. You can find these assignments in the “Derivita Content” folder.

Are you working on your secondary math endorsement? If so, did you know that you can be reimbursed up to $1500 for each of the math classes you are taking?

Looking to earn USBE credit for a step increase? Check out USBE’s micro-credentials.

Registration
Earn 1 USBE Credit for each book study you complete. Book study communities will meet asynchronously on CANVAS throughout the school year.

Our next district early out collaboration is Friday, March 28^th at 1:15 pm.

We will be spending our time revising the scope and sequence/year at a glance for Secondary I, II, & III for the 25/26 school year.

TI Emulator Licenses

Did you used to have a TI emulator app on your laptop and now its gone? Or do you need a TI Emulator app on your laptop or computer?

If so, please let me know! Canyons has 80ish eight-year licenses that need to be used!

Don’t forget that students have access to homework help videos that align with the OUR curriculum. Click here for information on how to access them. Teachers can also create an account for themselves.

Food for Thought – Quality over Quantity

How much time are students spending on technology in your classroom? Is the time meaningful? Is the technology being used to SUPPLEMENT instruction rather than replace?
